Together with Casa Árabe, K2 Integrity will be hosting a roundtable discussion that will analyze the possibilities that the creation of a new government in Libya, expected to be in place by January 2022, may bring for Libyan and Spanish economic relations in a future scenario of stabilization in the country.
Participants include Luis Barranco (Sub-direction General for Mediterranean Countries, Africa, and Middle East – Spain’s Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Tourism), who will explain the state of the situation of economic relations between Spain and Libya and their evolution in the last years, and Sabrine Hassen (K2 Integrity) who will discuss the abundant investment opportunities emerging from that context to rebuild the country, in particular, in the construction, oil and gas, transport, airport, shipping, telecommunications, and insurance industries. Her intervention will focus on how to reap some of the benefits of operating in cash-rich post-conflict Libya, including:
- The new networks that will emerge as a new government is being formed
- How Southern European contractors have a certain advantage with established networks
- The areas in which Libya will be looking for Southern European sector expertise
The discussion will be moderated by Olivia Orozco, coordinator of Education and Economics, Casa Árabe.
