In “Deal Leaks: Data Protection During M&A” (Financier Worldwide, March 2025), Maggie Rose comments on the importance of data integrity during the entire lifecycle of a M&A transaction—and how the loss of that integrity through a data breach can put a transaction in jeopardy. She notes: “Data breaches are becoming more common within the lifecycle of the M&A process given that the success of a deal is dependent on both the investor company and the target company. This increases the threat landscape and potential entry points for attackers. As such, the cyber security maturity postures of both companies must be considered.” To ensure a smooth transition, she explains, it’s “vital for companies to consider data protection measures during the pre-investment process of the M&A lifecycle.”
