In “What Is ‘Organized Retail Crime,’ Exactly?” (Retail Dive, 3 April 2024), Mark Skertic comments on the lack of industry consensus around the definition of organized retail crime (ORC). He explains how there “isn’t a single definition of organized retail crime, among industry groups or anywhere.” This lack of agreement, reflected in the special report on ORC released in April 2023 by the National Retail Federation in collaboration with K2 Integrity, has led to difficulties estimating ORC’s financial impact.
