Chris Brummer is a member of the board at K2 Integrity. He is the Agnes N. Williams Professor of Law at the Georgetown University Law Center, and the faculty director of Georgetown’s Institute of International Economic Law.
Dr. Brummer recently served as a member of the Biden-Harris Presidential Transition Team from October 2020 to January 2021, where his work focused on financial regulation and financial technology, systemic risk, and racial equity. He has also served as a member of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Subcommittee on Virtual Currencies, a member of the Financial Innovation Standing Committee of the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) Consultative Working Group, a member of FINRA’s National Adjudicatory Council, and as a panelist of Nasdaq delistings.
Dr. Brummer currently serves on the board of directors of Fannie Mae, where he is vice chair of Fannie Mae’s Strategic Initiatives and Technology Committee and is a member of the Community Responsibility and Sustainability Committee and the Risk Policy and Capital Committee. He is also a scholar in residence and senior advisor at Paradigm, a nonresident senior fellow for the Atlantic Council’s GeoEconomics Center, an advisory council member for the Alliance for Innovative Regulation, and an advisory group member for the Digital Dollar project.
Prior to joining the Georgetown faculty, Dr. Brummer was an assistant professor of law at Vanderbilt Law School and served as an academic fellow at the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Office of International Affairs. He was an attorney in private practice in New York and London from 2004 to 2006.
Dr. Brummer received a J.D., with honors, from Columbia Law School and a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago. He is the author or editor of four books on fintech and international financial regulation. He is the founder of DC Fintech Week, a public policy conference on finance and technology, and a co-founder of the Fintech Beat podcast and newsletter for CQ Roll Call.
A frequent speaker and lecturer, Dr. Brummer was asked to deliver the keynote address for the SEC’s Black History Month celebrations in 2021.
