Jason Straight is a senior managing director at K2 Integrity and leader of its Cybersecurity and Data Insights practice. With more than 20 years’ of experience in cybersecurity, privacy, and digital investigations, Jason works with clients across industries, including financial services, healthcare, professional services, and technology, to assess and mitigate the risks inherent in cybersecurity, privacy, data risk management, electronic investigations, advanced threat detection, AI safety, and digital forensic incident response matters.
Before joining K2 Integrity, Jason was chief privacy officer and senior managing director at Ankura Consulting, where he oversaw Ankura’s managed security services and incident response practices. He led the transition of staff, clients, equipment, and licenses to Ankura following its acquisition of UnitedLex’s cybersecurity business. Jason also led the rapid growth of Ankura’s managed security services business, and oversaw the firm’s global privacy program.
Prior to Ankura’s acquisition of UnitedLex, Jason served as UnitedLex’s senior vice president and chief privacy officer. He built and led the company’s cybersecurity and privacy advisory practice, managing dozens of cybersecurity investigations and data breach events for clients in a wide variety of industries and settings. He also built the company’s managed global privacy program, assisting clients in establishing GDPR-compliance privacy programs and serving as a virtual chief privacy officer.
Before joining UnitedLex, Jason was a managing director in Kroll’s cyber investigations practice, where he advised clients in a wide variety of areas including data breach response, data privacy, computer forensics, and data risk management. Prior to that, Jason held numerous positions at Kroll Ontrack and was a member of the company’s executive team, where he led and managed the development of the company’s incident response and cyber investigations practice. Jason began his career as an associate in the New York office of Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson, LLP.
As a recognized expert in his field, Jason is a frequent speaker and author on topics relating to cybersecurity, privacy, data risk management, and data breach response.
Jason is admitted to practice law in New York and is a member of the American Bar Association’s Science and Technology Law Section, the New York City Bar Association’s IT Law Committee, and the Task Force on National Security and the Law. He is an active member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals and a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US).
Jason holds a J.D. from University of Minnesota Law School and a B.A. in international studies major with concentrations in Japanese studies and economics from Macalester College.
